Efficiency of the tolerance development system for women as the prerequisite for their psychological readiness for maternity
Abstract
The problem of maternity is vital for the modern Ukrainian society. On one hand Ukraine has a deep national family culture, but on the other hand, the change of the society values, social priorities of the women have complex impact on maternity. Due to the social importance of the problem and absence of corresponding scientific research results, the goal of our study was to explore the peculiarities of women's tolerance as the prerequisite of their psychological preparedness for future maternity. The results of the ascertaining experiment have proved that there exists a material relation between the tolerance components
parameters and parameters of the psychological preparedness for maternity, which proves our hypothesis.
Based on the theoretical provisions and results of the ascertaining expeeriment we have developed a tolerance development system for women as the prerequisite of their psychological preparedness for maternity. We developed a tolerance development system for women as the prerequisite for their psychological preparedness for maternity, which included: discussion unit «First Steps to Tolerance»; training unit «Tolerance Training»; educational-informational unit «Tolerance and its Essence»; summarizing unit «Am I Tolerant?»; supporting unit of post-training meetings in the form of thematic tea-parties «Tolerant Meetings»; accompanying unit «Recommendations on Self-Improvement of Personal Tolerance». The efficiency of the developed tolerance development system for women as the prerequisite for their psychological preparedness for maternity is supported by the following data: before the experiment there was not a single woman with high or average tolerance level in the experiment group, but the situation changed drastically after it: the part of women with high and average tolerance level was 57% and 38%, besides the amount of women with low and very low tolerance degree: from 19% to 4% and from 81% to 1%. The control group, where no special events were carried out, the changes were insignificant: there were no women with high and average tolerance degree before and after the experiment, the amount of women with low tolerance degree increased from 5% to 6%, and the amount of women with very low tolerance degree reduced from 95% to 94%. Thus, our tolerance development system for women as the prerequisite of their psychological preparedness for maternity can be considered effective, and the assumption of our study that the psychological preparedness of women for future maternity is stipulated by the development degree of tolerance components (value-motivation, cognitive, emotional, behavioral), development and correction of which is possible by creation of a system of specific psychological influence on their formation process, is proved.
