Prerequisites for the development of adolescents’ behavioural self-regulation
Abstract
The article highlights the results of the analysis of foreign and domestic researches in selfregulation
as a system process that has a complex multilevel determination inherent in all living systems
and provides their appropriate functioning. It is indicated that psychic self-regulation depends on the
evolutionary development of the organism, its organization and complexity and is performed at different
levels of life. It has been established that the behavioural self-regulation is the structural formation of
personality, which is a unity of purposeful actions that appear in a decision-making process, selection,
evaluation of means of plan implementation, introspection of actions, determining positions on events,
situations and evaluative attitude of an individual to himself. The article examines thepsychological
mechanisms of self-regulation behavior of a person. Particular attention is paid to the interpretation of
the given concept. Anargumente of importance studying the mechanisms of person’sself-regulation
behavior. The article conveys the author’s understanding of behavioural self-rgulation of an adolescent
individual, which is a means of needs satisfaction that are expressed in an effort to succeed, to get the
approval of important people, to bolster self-esteem, to define their place among other people; it is
proved that the inner essence of adolescent behavioral self-regulation is a set of psychological mechanisms that are fixed in the psychological organization of personality as a functional attempt of their transformations, as a result of which there appear various psychological innovations, the level of personal systems increases or decreases; it is noted that the psychological mechanisms of behavioural self-regulation of an adolescent individual is a structural formation of consciousness that integrates the ability to define values, the ability to achieve goals adequately to internal capacity, the ability of selfcontrol, commitment to success (self-fulfillment), the need of prosocial self-affirmation and recognition. The article offers separated and nominated by its author mechanisms of behavioural self-regulation of adolescents and proves that every psychological mechanism has the autonomous development level and at the same time this personal formation appears as the regulator of adolescents’ behavior only in its integrity.
