Program of effective science texts reading

Abstract

The article describes the results of an empirical study of psychological features of technical
departments’ students reading og foreign science texts. The author gives reasons to create a set of
practical exercises that would make the reading of foreign science texts more productive; analyzes the
psychological factors that affect the reading of professional literature; gives the results of a survey
carried out among students that allowed to identify operational and motivational factors of students'
readiness to work with foreign science texts. She emphasized the importance of consideration of
individual psychological features of students while creating of the program, that combined cognitive,
operational, and personal motivational factors for successful foreign languages learning and reading of
foreign science texts. She described the object of psychological workshops and predicted the results of
its testing. The author characterized the structure and content of training program that would improve
the reading of the scientific literature.
