Apocalypical visions in the doctrine of the Catholic Church

Abstract

This article includes the original problems. First, outline Catholic beliefs about the «last days», relying on Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The understanding of apocalyptic prophecies, the signs of the apocalypse approaching in the book Revelation of John, and the contemporary problems of the Catholic Church have been analyzed. Based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, faith in the Second Coming of Christ, the Court of God, the eternal kingdom and the resurrection of the dead and the life of the age to come have been outlined. Issues of environmental problems, natural disasters and disasters are being updated as signs of the end of the world. It is emphasized that the apocalyptic problematic was relevant throughout the development of Christian culture. The whole journey of human civilization is colored by the expectation of history. In the Catholic Church doctrine’s all the sacraments are eschatological has been declared.

The apocalyptic literature of the Roman Catholic Church and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church have been analyzed. Classical approaches to Bible interpretation have been demonstrated. It is emphasized that different interpretations of the mysterious images of the book of Revelation of John lead to a conflicting perception of the book. The Catholic Church is pushing for a systematic and meticulous study of the Bible.
