Abstract

The article is devoted to one of the categories of pedagogical ethics - gender education. It is determined that through gender education the process of formation of egalitarian consciousness of the person is carried out, as well as eradicating the study of the nature of sex role stereotypes.

It traces the development of theoretical concepts of gender, the influence of philosophical currents of the formation of gender theories. The methodological foundations of gender studies in philosophy, pedagogical ethics, and sociology are taken into account.

The conception of differences between sexes and norms of behaviour related to them are more often expressed in the form of explanations of special features and responsibilities, advantages and limitations peculiar to the female nature. The essence, the nature and the destination of a man is a merely narrowed sex specificity.

Penetrating different spheres of the humanities, absorbing the newest methodological developments, this approach aspires to reorganize previous structures and participate in the structuring of the new culture model. Gender studies are aimed at researching social and cultural concepts of the female and male origins, and the theory of gender emphasizes not women’s problems, but the relationships between women and men in society, it stresses the impossibility to comprehend adequately the status of women in society without the analysis and understanding of gender relationships.
