Philosophical origins of the professional communication culture: the renaissance era
The philosophical origins of the professional communication culture are revealed in the article. In particular, the emphasis is on the heritage of the thinkers of the Renaissance. The ideological content of the Renaissance culture constituted the principle of humanism that established a new world outlook, where a human being is the center who has a high purpose and the right to the free self-realization, the affirmation of dignity and beauty, the mind and will and creative forces. It is proved that humanists paid the special attention to the art of the word, the fashion for the sharp written controversy, the flourishing of the artistic speech. It is found out that public communication, solemn eloquence, panegyric style, praise to heroes, anniversaries, magnates are developing especially active, which leads to the development of the norms and the creation of works on rhetoric.
The preconditions for the formation and development of various professional communication branches: trade, diplomatic, political, judicial, military, and pedagogical are also described in the article. The culture of military communication focuses on the ability of the commander to lead the army, judicial – to analyze the evidence and express one’s own position in the case, and political – to remove the interstate and domestic tension. Apart, the genre of the scientific communication develops, and rhetoric acquires a special position in the education system. The scholars of that time consider the achievement of wisdom from communicating with other people in various forms, such as conversation, philosophical dialogue, dispute, argument, debate, to be equivalent to the scientific methods of knowledge acquiring. Particular attention was paid to the right choice of the linguistic means, the possession of the methods of enemy’s persuasion, the tolerant proof of one’s own position, the art of eloquence, which becomes lush, elegant and rich in various quotations, pathos and erudition.
It is proved that it becomes extremely important for the professional communication culture of the Renaissance to declare the respect for the opponent, tolerance and a friendly attitude to the interlocutor, regardless of his property and social status.
